Time for a critical gaze across the busy comic book shelves…
Dave Johnson proved this week that virtually any comic with a monkey on the cover is a winner in our book with his front for Deadpool #61, while you could almost hear Patrick Stewart saying “…but it’s bigger on the inside”, courtesy of a beautifully painted cover on Star Trek / Doctor Who: Assimilation2 #5 by J.K. Woodward. Mike Allred had a couple of great features this week on the fronts of Wolverine and the X-Men #17 and the cool variant for Happy #1, and Jonboy Meyers‘s awesome work on Steed and Mrs. Peel #1 actually impressed more on the black and white variant edition. Ryan Sook came very close to grabbing the top spot this week with his fascinating cover for National Comics’ Rose and Thorn #1, but the winner, with an outstanding piece of work, let alone comic book cover, is…
Mark Brooks‘ splendid work on the front of X-Men Legacy #274.
congrats to Mark and Marvel, they get the paper crown this week!
