The Best Comic Book Covers of 2014 – Week #31
Alexander Lozano‘s beautifully painted cover for Cyclops #3 sits us right behind Cyclops and Corsair as they steal a Badoon ship! The level of skill and realism is incredible, breaking the fourth wall and transporting us right there in the cockpit!
Political images always make for bold statements on the front of comic books, and Jay Shaw‘s arresting image of a the star-spangled banner swirling down the drain for Evil Empire #3 is fantastic, mirroring Reese’s revelations on the corruption in America as the presidential election looms.
A brilliant and dynamic image of Tony Stark in his Marvel NOW! Iron Man armour, dealing with a number of attacks at once features on the cover of Iron Man Special #1 courtesy of Gary Choo.
Adam Hughes rounds off his run of brilliant covers for the Star Wars: Rebel Heist miniseries with a stylish composition featuring Luke, Vader, Obi-Wan, Leia, Threepio and a fleet of X-Wings on what is to be one of the last Star Wars comics produced by Dark Horse Comics.
We think Toni Fejzula‘s style is stunning and had to include this great cover for Veil #4, featuring our heroine front and centre!

The cover for Sandman: Overture #3 is a beautiful piece. An interesting piece that could easily be seen adorning the walls of many an art gallery, let alone the front of a comic book, J.H. Williams III has produced something visually magnificent. And we almost didn’t spot the image of Morpheus hidden among the dreamy swirls!
Congrats to J.H. and DC Vertigo, they get the paper crown this week!
