As deliveries continue to improve, we are now getting 90% of the comics a month we did do prior to lockdown.
Our biggest problem has been that, for a two-week period during lockdown, DC did not ship comics to Diamond UK, the comic supplier for all comic shops in the United Kingdom. This was time taken to relent on their abrupt disassociation with Diamond as a whole, and agree to continue supplying the UK branch of the company (Diamond US still miss out).
While we have had about 90% of these orders now filled, but we do have a few holes…
- Hawkman #23
- Green Lantern: Season 2 #3
- Batman and the Outsiders #12
- Catwoman: 80th Anniversary
- Joker / Harley: Criminal Sanity #4
- House of Whispers #20
- Flash Giant #4
- DC Superstars #9 (Facsimile)
Unfortunately, we had to allocate these titles for our customers based on the earliest placed orders (a method we have always employed), so I would like to take this opportunity to apologies to any Acers still waiting for any of these books and we do hope to fill all of the orders eventually. However, this situation has been compounded by DC’s last minute cancellation of a number of variant covers, meaning that if any of you ordered a variant issue instead of the regular edition of these titles, you could miss out on the issue altogether. As I stated previously, we are doing all we can to supply everybody, and if you have concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Lastly, this month a mix up between DC and Diamond UK has meant that the DC Connect listings coupled with our physical order forms are missing about twenty five issues (these are only missing from the paper order form and can still be found on all online listings). The missing titles are as follows:

If you’re an Advance Order Customer, don’t miss them!
It has been bad enough dealing with general pandemic precautions without these added complications!
On a Lighter Note…
The good news is that the comics that have been published are really great reads! The Batman / Joker story line is keeping everyone excited and interested in Batman again, and the Empyre series from Marvel is excellent. Thor is outstanding, the Avengers continue to be compelling, and Daredevil keeps amazing me each issue!
Our stores in Colchester and Southend are now both open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Despite the reduced opening hours (60%), sales are only down by 25%! This may make us rethink our opening hours completely for the future. At present, people are shopping for items they want and not idly milling around town. They come in and then go. Is this the shape of shopping to come?
More good news is that Kerrie, Marc, Glenn, Lea, Guy, Martin, Evil Stu, Chris, David, Ben, Alex, Tina and, lastly, the old Biffter are all still well and fighting fit and we hope you all are too.
Mission for the month:
Keep safe everyone, enjoy any extra spare time you have and order responsibly when Previews drops through your letter box… by that I mean splurge out!
