DC Comics: He-Man: The Eternity War takes the series to an all-new level with matchups and team-ups never before seen in He-Man lore – and all of Eternia is at stake including the beloved Castle Grayskull. The series will feature heroes and villains from the vast universe including He-Man, She-ra, Skeletor, Hordak, and many more. The book’s will continue to feature an all star creator line-up including writer Dan Abnett, artist Pop Mahn with covers by Stjepan Šejić.
“This is the big one! The epic! So much Masters Of The Universe lore and mythology sweeping together in one epic storyline! He-Man, She-Ra and their allies combine to take Eternia back from Hordak in the war to end all wars…. and there are other sinister threats lurking in the shadows,” said Dan Abnett writer of the series. “I can’t properly express how excited I am about this book.”
“Dan’s brilliant scripts constantly push my artistic boundaries like no other and I’ll be bringing this fresher, better artistic approach to the new saga. I can’t wait to get in the trenches and help Dan produce something really special!” stated Pop Mahn the artist on the series.
“This is our Ragnarok, our Twilight of the Gods,” said Rob David, Head Writer and Lead Creative on Masters of the Universe for Mattel’s Entertainment Studio, Playground Productions, “the epic showdown He-Man fans have been waiting for. It’s He-Man vs. Skeletor, She-Ra vs. Hordak, Masters vs. Dark Masters – all fighting for control over Castle Grayskull. In the end, winner takes all. Who will become the Master of the Universe? Nothing will be the same after this.”
The New 52 debut of the fan-favorite team – The Secret Six!
Hero Complex: Gail Simone is relaunching ‘Secret Six’ in the New 52, and at its core is a mystery with an answer that she said all DC readers will want to know.
The fan-favorite writer, who recently wrapped a well-regarded run on ‘Batgirl’, will introduce the new gang of rogues to root for in an ongoing series set to premiere Dec. 3, and she promises the same sort of “black humor and edginess” – and unpredictability – that won her previous run on the title a passionate following.
There are still secrets about the Six’s new incarnation she isn’t yet willing to divulge, but she did discuss a third of the lineup: The master hunter Catman and magic-stealing teen goth Black Alice – who is more powerful than she is mature – will make their new New 52 debuts on a team with the same name (albeit in a different reality) as the one they were last seen with three years ago.
They will be facing a major question in what Simone called “the ‘Twin Peaks’ of superhero comics”: What is the secret?
“You’re going to see right away kind of what Catman’s about,” she said. “I don’t want to reveal too much just because it is part of his character and part of his story to unfold these things through the story.”
Readers [will have to] wait in suspense until December for what the writer promised “is going to be a very dangerous, sexy book.”
DC Comics, First Issue: 10/12/14
In this new miniseries, the Monitors have come to Earth and begun their work – but instead of using Red Bleed to exterminate the world, a new Blue Bleed is erasing the world’s capitals!
DC Vertigo, First Issue: 03/12/14
Don’t miss this new 6-issue miniseries! Wolf Moon is a horrific werewolf hunt unlike any other. When Dillon Chase’s family was slaughtered by the wolf, his life was forever changed. Dillon sets out to destroy the creature, but he soon learns that lycanthropy is far more insidious than the legends ever said. With each full moon, he draws closer to the monster – and with each full moon, he becomes more aware that in order to stop the wolf, he must kill a human being and become a fearful monster himself.
Bloody Disgusting: Cullen Bunn (Sinestro, Magneto) has been given the reigns to an all new Vertigo series that will reimagine werewolf lore as we know it. Entitled ‘Wolf Moon’ the series sees a man’s family slaughtered by the wolf. Sounds typical, but I assure you it’s anything but.
Cullen Bunn: “When it comes to werewolves, one of the things that is most interesting to me is that when the moon is not full, the afflicted person has to live with the repercussions of the horror they have inflicted upon those around them. Imagine that. You wake up one morning, having been plagued by vivid nightmares of running wild, of butchering people, only to realize that the nightmares were true. That kind of realization would rattle you to the core. The memory of the event would, itself, be transformative.
I’ve always felt like these darker stories are the truest representation of me as a writer. I think these are the stories that can surprise you. These are the tales that might provoke the most visceral emotional reaction.
My favorite stories, whether we’re talking a psychological horror story, a ghost story, or a slasher gorefest, are those that let me connect to the would-be victims on an emotional level. I want to care about the characters so that it hurts more when they meet their terrible fate. That’s what I want to tap into with this piece.”
