Time to reveal the collective ACE Comics choice for Cover of the Week.
As usual, there were a number of great covers this week, ranging from the standard action shots to interesting uses of characters, shapes and styles. Particular favourites were the classically posed He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1 by Philip Tan and Ruy Jose, Daniel Acuña‘s stylized Uncanny X-Men #15 and a ‘smashing’ Popeye #3 by Tom Neely.
The winner for week 27 is actually a B cover, and a very nice one it is too…

There were a few possibilities for Cover of the Week #22 last week.
DC’s Batman Annual #1 by Jason Fabok with it’s great use of Mr. Freeze imagery, DC Vertigo’s corset heavy New Deadwardians #3 by Ian Culbard, IDW’s Monocyte #4 by Menton3 was very striking and Marvel had Incredible Hulk #8 by Michael Komarck and a nice image of Tony Stark in full welding flow on Ultimate Comics Ultimates #11 by Kaare Andrews.
These were great covers, but beaten to the finish by a master with the brush…

IDW have announced that there has been a problem with the first issue of Star Trek The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation #1.
We’re not sure what the problem is, but the title is to be allocated with an expectation of 70-75% of initial orders fulfilled. There will be a second print, but currently no date has been given.
Unfortunately, this means that some of our subscription customers may be affected.

Conor McCreery and Anthony Del Col, the creators of IDW’s controversial Kill Shakespeare comic book series are undertaking a two-week signing and convention tour of England, appearing at the Bristol Comic Expo as well as the Kapow! Comic Convention this month. They will be joined at Kapow! by series artist Andy Belanger.
“We’re quite interested to see what people in England think of our take on the Bard,” says McCreery. “We expect some nay-sayers but we’re eager to show everyone that this project is just as vital a reflection of the Bard’s work as anything coming out of the Globe Theatre or Stratford-on-Avon.”
Additionally, IDW will be releasing a new printing of Kill Shakespeare Vol.1: Sea Of Troubles, originally released in April, 2010. The collection is the first half of the series that pits the Bard’s greatest heroes against his most menacing villains in a quest to track down and kill – or save – a wizard by the name of William Shakespeare.
Despite a scathing denouncement from Shakespearean scholar Kimberly Cox, Kill Shakespeare has received critical acclaim and McCreery and Del Col have received their second straight Joe Shuster Award nomination for Best Writing in a comic series.
These titles are due to hit the shelves on Wednesday 9th May 2012!
