Cover of the Week #35
Week 35 featured a number of contenders for Cover of the Week.
Amongst those considered were Avenging Spider-Man #11 by Chris Samnee, Ethan Nicolle‘s great big Ape and Leopard/Lizard fight on the front of Axe Cop President of the World #2, a tribute to the Death of Superman on the Green Lantern Annual #1 from Ethan Van Sciver, the fang-tastic National Comics’ Looker #1 by Guillem March and, running a close second, Jim Lee‘s destined-to-be-iconic Justice League #12.
But the winner for week 35 is…
…Dave Johnson‘s striking, stylized cover for Spaceman #9.

DC Annuals to look out for in August…
Over the past couple of weeks, DC have started to announce a number of the annuals going on sale this August.
Detective Comics Annual #1…
Batman group editor Mike Marts: “This special Annual, written by Tony S. Daniel and illustrated by Romano Molenaar and Sandu Florea, pits the Dark Knight against the Black Mask—a Gotham City villain most recently seen during the Night of the Owls!”
Superman Annual #1…
Writer Keith Giffen: “Ever wonder what’s out there beyond the farthest known reaches of the DC Universe? Superman’s about to get the answer to that – in spades – as we introduce an entirely new cosmic realm and drop him into the middle of it. The DC Universe’s cosmic presence is about to be dramatically expanded and it all starts with … a game show?”

DC Comics and Warner Bros are officially endorsing an upcoming special of Robot Chicken
The Star Wars shows were great so we’re all sure this is going to be just as awesome …and stupid.
They’ve assembled an all-star cast including Green as Batman, Robin and the put-upon Aquaman, Paul Reubens as The Riddler, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, Breckin Meyer as Superman, plus Abe Benrubi, Alex Borstein, Clare Grant, Tara Strong, Senreich, Tom Root, and Zeb Wells.
