FCBD: Design an Iron Man Armour Competition

Thanks to everyone who entered our ‘Design an Iron Man Armour’ competition. We had a great time looking at all of the incredible entries and were blown away by the talent on display, not to mention the fantastic ideas for Tony’s new armour.

You will be able to see the original art on display in the ACE Comics Stores and we have a ‘Hall of Armours’ gallery below.

There can, however, only be one winner and that winner is…

Lucas came up with the Iron Man Avenger Armour, which incorporates elements from the rest of the Avengers! Congrats to Lucas, who gets an ACE Comics £10 Gift Voucher and the accolade of being our competition winner!

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2013

We just want to say thanks to all of you (and there were QUITE A LOT) who visited ACE Comics for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY and showed your love for comics.

Our shelves are bare and we’re pretty sure this year’s event has surpassed last years record-breaker, and we really appreciate your support.

Hopefully, you all grabbed some bargains along with the freebies, so enjoy your reading over the Bank Holiday weekend and stay tuned for some Iron Man competition entries which will be uploaded very soon.

FCBD: Design an Iron Man Armour Competition

Can you build an armour as invincible as Tony Stark?

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is fast approaching, and to celebrate, we’ve got a fantastic competition for all of our young readers out there!

If you’re 14 or under, all you have to do is download, print and colour the Iron Man picture below and bring it to your local ACE Comics store on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY (May 4th), when you pick up your free comics!! You can add any features to Iron Man’s armour you like and include descriptions of what your gadgets do, or simply colour it in. It’s up to you!

The best entries will all be displayed in-store after the event and added to our website and Facebook page, plus the overall winner will receive a £10 ACE Comics Gift Voucher, so don’t forget to fill out your contact details!

Time to get your pencils out!

Zombie Day at Colchester Castle, April 3rd

ACE Comics are selling tickets for ‘Castle Zombie’, a zombie day event organized by horror production company Silent Studios, which is taking place at Colchester Castle on April 3rd 2013.

There are two types of ticket available…

General Admission Ticket: £5.00

This ticket will get you entry to the Castle, a visit the Zombie Dungeon and entry to the Fancy Dress Competition (lots of prizes to be won)

VIP Ticket: £20.00

This ticket will get all of the above, plus entry to the VIP area which houses the Xtreme Gaming Competition area, meet Nick Mundy (a zombie from the Walking Dead TV show), cinema showing ‘Ace The Zombie’ and ‘Before Dawn’ (prizes to be won here too), meet the cast of ‘Ace The Zombie’ and ‘Before Dawn’, meet the band Eastern Front and watch horror make-up artist Robbie Drake at work

Metal Radio will be broadcasting and interviewing throughout the event and Ace the Zombie will be terrorizing visitors (his favourite victims can win goodies too)

Darth Vader’s visit

Darth Vader's Galactic Grotto

Darth Vader was a big hit when he visited ACE Comics in Colchester on Saturday.

Apart from the weather bearing striking resemblance to the ocean exoplanet Kamino, and having trouble finding enough parking spaces in a row for his Star Destroyer, the Dark Lord of the Sith was on hand with his Imperial forces including Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, Royal Guards, AT-AT Commanders and Death Star Troopers to spread some seasonal cheer.

Galactic Grotto Visitors

Boba Fett was also there to ensure that the Wookiee, the Ewok and the Tusken Raider, who were up to entertaining the queue, didn’t step out of line.

Star Warriors, who assisted in the arrival of the Empire, were collecting for Action On Pre-Eclampsia, a charity close to their hearts, raising awareness and improving care for those suffering from Pre-Eclampsia.

ACE Comics is proud to announce the festive return of Darth Vader and his Imperial Troops to our Colchester store for Darth Vader’s Galactic Grotto!

On 22nd December 2012, the Dark Lord of the Sith will be visiting the Colchester store to hear what you want for Chrsitmas …and he should know – he’s felt your presents!

For an entry fee of £5.00, visitors to the Galactic Grotto will privately meet Darth Vader and receive a special Galactic Gift from Vader himself!

The Empire will be descending on ACE Comics from 11am till 4pm, so if you are undertaking some last minute Christmas shopping, why not stop by and pay them a visit – you might just get your wish for Christmas!

As well as being located at the ACE store, the troops will be out and about in Colchester with donation buckets for Action On Pre-Eclampsia, a worthwhile charity organisation close to their hearts, who aim to raise awareness, improve care and reduce physical and emotional suffering from Pre-Eclampsia. If you see them in Colchester, please pass some spare change their way.
